Various styles of baby carriers are depicted here. The woman in the photograph holds a typical cradle board made with two wood posts covered with material that is heavily decorated with tiny glass beads. The artifacts show two other types of baby carriers. One carrier is made of buck skin with glass bead designs and stripes of beads in front to protect the baby's face. The other carrier is from the Eastern Woodlands and is formed by a bent wood base with velvet and cloth coverings decorated in floral beadwork.

Un amautik est un manteau spécial pour qu'une mère porte son bébé sur son dos. L'intérieur est fait de peaux de mouton et l'extérieur est en nylon épais. C'est lourd pour la mère, mais tous les bébés adorent se faire porter ainsi!
