Coheleach was raised on Long Island and spent many seasons birding and catching peregrine falcons and snowy owls. The owls would come south to the barrier beaches in the winter, particularly when their own food supply of lemmings was scarse. This painting shows one turning in the air after noticing something moving in the grass.
