acThe Wolf Clan  - The Harvesters The Wolf Clan is represented by the Basswood.  The clan's primary obligation within Menominee culture revolved around hunting, or more properly, the harvest of resources, for the taking of fish, fowl, and game went far beyond recreation. As one of two harvesting clans (Moose was the other), its function was of central importance and encompassed a host of activities.

The Wolf Clan is made up of the Wolf, Dog, White Tail Deer, Fox, and Pine Squirrel Clans.  Click on the  name or leaf below to visit each clan:

The Wolf Clan is the largest of the seven Cherokee Clans. The Cherokee are matriarchal with the clan mothers making many of the important tribal decisions. A Cherokee is a member of his mothers clan with marriages taking place between clans.  The print is representitive of the wolf clan and life long mates.  Warriors and war chiefs often came from the Wolfclan.
