Carrying the Feather

Now...... Help me out here, I remember being told that putting my dance feather on the left side meant I had a boyfriend and on the right side that I was single.....??? Anyone with a different "feather code"? Or did I got it right from the start? So if you put it in the middle...What does that mean??? oh boy...lol.....
