The Harvest Moon Shines on Oct. 6
http://reference.aol.com/space/fullmoon?ncid=AOLRNL00140000000006The full moon closest to the autumnal equinox is called the Harvest Moon. At this time of year, the moon rises at about the same time each night, just after sunset, giving farmers extra hours of light to bring in the harvest. In two years out of three, the Harvest Moon comes in September, but in some years it occurs in October.
